Specific way of water extracting at a depth of 400 m from special layers so-called the “core” of Lake Baikal provides water only of high quality. No external contaminants can efect its “core” — mineral composition and the water temperature 3,6°С (temperature of melt water) at a depth of 400 m hasn't been changed during the whole period of observations made by the Limnological institute, russian academy of sciences, with its branch in siberia.
The water goes through three-stage filtration with 0,2 Mk afterfilter, UV irradiation and ozone treatment. Each charge of water goes through the restricted chemical (PH, Fe, total hardness, permanganate index) and microbiological (total microbial count at a temperature of 37°C and 22°C, general coliform bacteria, thermo-resistant coliforms) control. Detailed analysis is carried out every month, total analysis (regarding 93 points) — annually.
The analyses done by Frezenius Institute which clearly demonstrate that bottled Baikal drinking water exceeds the demands of German and European standards. It will be mentioned that these analyses were performed in order to find out whether the product conforms to standards of human health. The methods which were employed had an appropriate sensitivity. It is known, that water of Lake Baikal contains extremely small concentrations of organic chlorine compounds. They have been detected by means of analysis of very large samples (100 and more liters) using special, extremely sensitive methods, much more sensitive than those which are necessary to evaluate the quality form the viewpoint of human health standards. In addition, Frezenius Institute evaluated the content of radioactive compounds, which were found to be lower than background. These data demonstrate that Lake Baikal is not just a storage of fresh water, but rather an invaluable deposit of extremely pure water of high drinking quality for the future generations.
The natural drinking water “Baikal Aqua” has low degree of mineralization and is exceptionally pure and soft. The molecular skeleton and isotopic composition of Baikal water is really unique and it can not be made by artificial method. Due to its constant low temperature the crystal lattice of Baikal water is close to the lattice of ice water (melt water), which in its turn, as it was proved by biophysicists, is close to the structure of liquid in living body. Suchlike structure of Baikal water provides for the optimization of metabolism and, as a result, for the best development of vital functions. Stable composition of water provides for the extended storage without preservatives avoiding loss in taste and quality. Thanks to the permanently low temperature of the water in Lake Baikal, that is 3…4°C, there is great amount of native oxygen (Content of native oxygen –12,4…10,5 mg/l) and endemic florula — the natural biological filter bed.
The specifications of pure natural drinking water are as follows:
